The main focus for this release was security.
After many important security alerts hit the internet over the last few months, we decided that we will spend extra time to shield our users from potential problems and focus on security for this release.
This fix contains fixes for major problems like GHOST as well as improvements like the introduction of a special security profile for our web interface. We have taken care to add to the already high level of security of all our external interfaces.
Our second main focus was a change of out database engine. We experienced the problem that mysql development had significantly slowed down recently - which was especially problematic in the field of security related patches.
So in order to be able to benefit from technological advances as well as from a better support we switched to a different but similar database engine: MariaDB.
Since porttracker is relying on SNMP to retrieve massive amounts of data from your network, we finally took the step to give some of that back: porttracker now publishes its system and polling status via a corperate MIB using SNMP.
We also added official support for the Chrome browser.
