porttracker v2.2 Features
Importing/Exporting
Summary
- *NEW* Backup Destination - use the porttracker GUI to download a backup to your desktop on demand
- Export to CSV automatically or on demand
- JSON API – programming language independent (C, Perl, PHP, etc)
For first time visitors
porttracker can import all sorts of settings using standard formats. For example, you can import the subnets with SNMP credentials that make a discovery realm. You can import seed devices. You can even import subnets to use during poller assignments.
Among backing up the entire porttracker database and exporting specific settings, porttracker can export views and reports in CSV format. This makes it very easy to manipulate using text editors and spreadsheet programs.
Porttracker also has a built in API using JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). JSON is a lightweight data-interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. It is a text format that is completely language independent but uses conventions that are familiar to programmers of the C-family of languages, including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, and many others. These properties make JSON an ideal data-interchange language.
Infrastructure Suppliers
porttracker is compatible with a wide number of switch devices including Nortel Baystack and Huawei Networks in addition to HP Procurve, 3Com, Cisco and Extreme Networks.
v2.2 Validated Hardware
porttracker compatibility has been validated for the additional switch vendors in v2.2;
Huawei, Nortel Networks (Baystack 450 and Passport 8610), Force10, Enterasys, 3com, Extreme Networks, HP, Alcatel (Alcatel Omnistack 6124 & 6200), Foundry and
Allied Telesis.
Using various discovery mechanisms, porttracker will be able to assign these switches to pollers and report on end-device connectivity.
