porttracker v2.2 Features
Plugins
Summary
- qsync – Sync with Alcatel-Lucent VitalQIP
- bsync – Sync with Infoblox IPAM
For first time visitors
Plugins allow porttracker to be expanded. They also allow for the synchronization of data to and from porttracker.
Considerable additional value can be added to your existing network management tool sets through porttracker plugins.
'plugins' feed porttracker information automatically into your existing network management systems without the need for scripting. This allows the augmented information to be accessed in a familiar environment by your operational staff.
bsync for Infoblox IPAM
The key to porttracker’s bsync module benefits is the link between the logical addressing contained in VitalQIP and the physical layer-2 connectivity that porttracker adds to this.
bsync Benefits
- Valuable connectivity details are added to Infoblox as extra meta data. This includes MAC address, switch name, slot/port, link speed/duplex, VLAN information, and even firt/last seen times.
- Real world validation of IPAM objects
- Searchable and Reportable porttracker fields in the grid master
- Provides accurate reclaim reports using ‘last seen’ data
- Enhances audit information by adding connection detail to static objects.
- Add objects to IPAM that were found on your network, but don’t exist in the grid master.
qsync for Alcatel-Lucent VitalQIP
*NEW Configure porttracker to VitalQIP field mapping
Using the qsync module, porttracker can sync the physical layer-2 connectivity details to VitalQIP.
Future sync modules are planned for other IPAM systems, Asset Management systems, CMDBs as well as generic database adapters.
