Announcing porttracker v2.0

We’re not too comfortable with the concept of resting on our laurels at porttracker. That's why we made sure that the hugely positive industry reaction to the January 2008 launch of our unique porttracker network management tool did not divert us from working on the recently launched and significantly enhanced v2.0.

New features include:

an increase in the number of vendor switches that can be supported including HP, Procurve, 3Com, Cisco and Extreme Networks an Audit History function which enables users not only to be able to track just the last device to use a port but all previous devices and settings that have been used since porttracker was installed a scheduled reporting function, which allows the user to tailor the reporting to suit their requirements (eg: reports can be run in HTML or CSV formats)

Feedback on v1.0 was tremendously encouraging. IT and Network manager customers quickly realized the value of a device that could do what only hours of cable chasing could do before: track and report on what devices were and had previously been connected to their network.

Their feedback showed what an invaluable network management tool porttracker was, not only driving down IT purchasing costs by reducing switch port wastage, but also helping to manage network security.

 

Customer driven product development

Customer feedback confirmed that porttracker has met customer requirements and also highlighted the areas in which its success could be built on. Users can now use a 'Scheduled Reporting' function to schedule periodic reports or use a 'run now' facility.

V2.0 offers a lot more than these enhancements in functionality. porttracker is now compatible with a wider number of switch devices including HP Procurve, 3com, Extreme Networks in addition to Cisco.

And users can benefit from brand new porttracker features including:

64 and 32-bit VMware distribution API (JSON) for Operation Support System integration support for Safari/Windows Mobile/Chrome more ‘drill-down’ between fields user comment fields, and relative date filters
